United States launched a plan to provide women with preventive health services for free

The health department of the United States on Monday launched a plan to provide women with preventive health services for free, including contraceptives, under national health reform.

However, the authors provide flexibility to religious institutions, as there is an amendment that allows them to choose whether or not to provide contraceptive services in their coverage.

The guidelines, the Department of Health and Human Services called "historic", adopted the recommendations in July conducted a research advisory group.

The report of the Institute of Medicine of the United States, as requested by the Obama administration, recommended that all birth control methods approved in the country, including the "morning-after pill" is taken soon after intercourse to prevent pregnancy- are added to the list of national government preventive health services.

The recommendation faced stiff opposition from conservative and religious groups that reject the use of public money from taxes to cover birth control, especially the controversial "morning-after pill."

The adoption of the recommendations is a win for organizations like the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Planned Parenthood entity (Planned Parenthood).
